I’ve been quite busy over the past few days, the last days of my “house arrest” enforced upon me by my pneumonia. I’ve been putting quite a lot on my website – there are now ten chapters of my autobiography and the whole of my trilogy, “Pigs Do Not Eat Banana Skins”, which I call a self-portrait, as it is about me, but is a mixture of fact and imagination. Throughout the book I have put myself in situations I was never in during my real life, to try to find out how I would have reacted. By reading both this and my autobiography, anyone interested has the opportunity to compare the facts with the imagination!
I have also published all my dreams until the end of 2010. To psychologists, these probably reveal more of the real me than my autobiography, which, although frank, is subjective and based on memory, which we all know can be very deceptive.
My website now includes all seven of my collection of short stories, “The Golden Candlestick”, which I wrote largely to find out whether I was capable of writing something that wasn’t strictly autobiographical. I have come to the conclusion that everything anyone writes is to an extent autobiographical – what isn’t fact comes from the subconscious.
I started another non-autobiographical novel, but have got stuck on about the 15th page. My problem is that I don’t plan what I am writing, I just sit down and write what comes into my head at that moment. Sometimes this works very well, but when it doesn’t, I’ve nothing else to fall back on.
I have also started to upload some of my poems – not because they are any good, but because they are part of me and I am trying on my website to give an open, honest picture of myself.
In the video section I have put extracts from the series I made for Sarajevo Television and also part of a “Poletarac” episode.
As they say in America – “Enjoy”!!
